Foreign Language Services, Inc. was founded by Judith H. Smith and Caroline S. Myers, who continue as the two principals of the business. FLS, Inc. is based in Huntsville, Alabama, in the heart of the southeastern part of the United States and is classified as a women-owned small business.
Since its founding, FLS has proudly served federal, state and local government agencies and private industry worldwide. In 1994, FLS was recognized for its success and potential for growth and awarded the Catch a Rising Star award as Small Business of the Year by the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce. In 2006, FLS was again recognized as a finalist in the Small Business of the Year competition. Additionally, FLS, Inc. has been featured in various magazines and news articles both nationally and locally.
FLS, Inc. actively supports the community’s economic development, partnering locally with such organizations as the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, the North Alabama International Trade Association (NAITA) and the Japan America Society of Alabama (JASA). This involvement helps strengthen the community’s business climate and is one way in which FLS can contribute to the area’s growth.
Nationally, FLS is a corporate member of the American Translators’ Association and a participant in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce TradeRoots Program, as one of Alabama’s featured small businesses promoting trade and economic development. |
