Not until the 21st Century has international commerce been as accessible as it is with the Internet. However, communication remains the main obstacle for companies seeking international business.

Business Websites and Marketing

Have you expanded your customer base by looking at international markets? As a marketing tool, translating your company’s website, social media, and marketing materials makes perfect sense. At a minimum, having a bilingual business card can be your best marketing tool. Relying on FLS’s seasoned and experienced professionals assures that your website reflects your company expertly. FLS can coordinate all of your marketing material to assure that it is localized — that is:

  • It reads in the foreign language as smoothly as it would were it originated in that language
  • It handles cultural language differences (dialect) and idioms (colloquialisms)
  • It reflects technical content appropriately
  • It accurately reflects measurements in size, quantity, etc.
  • It converts currency, and reflects date and time according to the norm

Marketing language for websites and related company literature, such as brochures and sales flyers, requires a mixture of subject matter expertise, creativity, and accuracy—FLS’s skilled project managers match your requirements with a translation team having the appropriate credentials.

Reaching your customers worldwide, through 21st Century media is not a choice, it is a must!

Technical Translation

Technical translation is our forte! Both large and small manufacturers and commercial product/service providers depend on FLS for technical versatility and accuracy.

The many facets of a technical translation. The commercial and industrial sectors of the marketplace have broad language service needs. Companies invest generously in developing how-to manuals and sales and marketing support, which include business cards, video translations, brochures, and counter-top displays. It is therefore vitally important their materials be handled by savvy translators who keep their native language and all its nuances intact.

One example of a specialty sector came from a call in the early 1990s from Kershaw Manufacturing, Montgomery, Alabama, requesting a small translation job of labels, followed soon after by a request for Operations & Parts manuals—all in Russian. This began a productive long term relationship between our companies. Kershaw manufactures railway track maintenance equipment and sells this high tech machinery all over the world. Through previous technical work with several U.S. government agencies we had a roster of Russian professional translators. In 1999, we provided brochures in Spanish, two Lifter manuals followed by two Tie Cranes in Russian… and so on. Fast forward to find FLS having translated these complicated manuals in Turkish, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and more Russian… all the way to the present.

Even more representative of the quality of technical work of this nature was being recommended by Kershaw to other railway manufacturers—French and Albanian manuals for Fairmont Tamper and Harsco Track Technologies in South Carolina and Progress Rail in Albertville, Alabama and other divisions of Kershaw, as examples.

Whether a side-by-side refrigerator manual for an appliance retailer in seven languages, software user manuals for IT companies, industrial labels for manufacturers, FLS’s success is in the match-up of translation team to the task.
