Video Remote Interpreting (VRI)
Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) is an innovative, HIPAA-compliant, cloud-based technology that connects sign language and foreign language interpreters with office staff, patients, and clients with the click of a button. With many languages available, including American Sign Language (ASL), VRI is an easy, cost-effective way to meet your language interpretation needs.
VRI combines the benefits of face-to-face interpretation with the on-demand nature of Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI).
VRI is an effective solution for language barriers because it is instant, mobile and cost-effective. Anywhere, anytime, on almost any device. All you need is an internet connection.
Onsite service is a more appropriate solution for appointments planned in advance. It is ideal for situations involving sensitive or emotionally challenging settings. It provides face-to-face interaction among the client, the recipient, and the interpreter.
Recipients have been reported being much more comfortable having an interpreter physically in the room because the interpreter helps to build rapport between the recipient and client. There are few potential barriers to communication if the speaker, the listener, and the interpreter are all in the same place. In person, the interpreter can discern things such as when the recipient or client is confused or has a question or needs further explanation.
